Twisted Tube is designed for shell and tube heat exchangers, firstly presented by Swedish Alards Company, and improved by the USA Koch Heat Transfer Company.

Twisted Tubes characteristics:

1. Increase heat transfer efficiency, increase the turbulent intensity, make the shell velocity and the direction change regularly, enhangce the misture in longitudinal. Twisted Tube Heat Exchangers typically have 40% higher heat transfer coefficient for the same pressure drop as conventional shell & tube heat exchangers.
2. No Baffle Plate , reduced pressure drop in the shell pass. The helix-shaped tubes are assembled into a bundle on a triangular pitch, one row at a time, with each tube being turned to align the twists at every plane along the bundle length.
3. Compact Tube Bundle. Due to the self-supporting tube geometry triangular pitch, more twisted tubes can fit into a single shell size as compared to conventional round steel tubes.
4. Elimination of damage-induced vibration. Due to the generally longitudinal flow pattern of the shell-side fluid and the multi-point support structure of the bundle, the potential for flow-induced damaging vibration is mitigated.
5. Less deposite, no blind zone in the shell.

Twisted Tube Heat Exchanger Application:
Twisted Tube Heat Exchanger is being used in the boiler feedwater heating, lube oil cooling, Petro-chemical, Refining, Offshore Oil Gas, Crude Pre heater, power industry for turbine steam condensing.

Twisted Tube Marking:
Twisted shall be clearly stencil with Donghao mill mark. The marking shall include: Donghao Stainless Steel or brand, the specification number, and grade, the delivery condition, and the wall designation, minimum wall or average wall, heat number and heat treatment lot identification.

Twisted Tube Testing:

1. Heat Treatment and Solution Annealing / Bright Annealing
2. Cutting to required length and deburring
3. Chemical Composition Analysis Test With 100% PMI and One tube from each heat by Direct Reading Spectrometer
4. Visual Test and Endoscope Test for Surface Quality Test
5. 100% Hydrostatic Test and 100% Eddy Current Test
6. Ultrasonic Test subject to the MPS (Material Purchase Specification)
7. Mechanical Tests includes Tension Test, Flattening Test, Flaring Test, Hardness Test
8. Impact Test subject to Standard request
9. Grain Size Test and Intergranular Corrosion Test
10. Ultrasoic measuring of Wall Thickness
11. 100% Eddy current test after corrugation.
12. Visual test and dimensional inspection after corrugation.
