Chemical Compositions of Stainless Steel to EN 10297-2






EN 10297-2 is the material standard for heat-resisting stainless steel for seamless tubes for mechanical and general engineering purposes. This new standard was first published in December 2005. It does not replace any previous British Standards, unlike the counterpart welded tube standard EN 10296-2, which replaced BS 6323-8:1982.

Included in the standard are chemical composition, delivery conditions, ambient temperature mechanical properties, some additional optional tests (leak testing, hydrostatic testing and a range of non-destructive test options including eddy current and ultrasonic test methods) and some dimensional and tolerance requirements.

Ferritic (4), one martensitic (1.4006), austenitic (22), austenitic-ferritic (duplex) (8) stainless steel and one ferritic (1.4749) and austenitic (6) heat resisting grades are included in the range of grades specified in this standard. Only the chemical composition of the stainless steel in the standard are listed in this article.
