1.2767 Tool Steel
1.2767 X45NiCrMo4 is a higher carbon version of the standard 4¼% nickel air/oil hardening steel. 1.2767 X45NiCrMo4 achieves a good hardness and is suitable for applications demanding extra wear resistance.
1.2767 is Nickel cold work tool steel. Good hardenability and thougness. Ability for polishing, photoetching and erosion treatment. Application include forging tools, dies of all sort, shapes and sizes, hot forging and pressing tools for steel and metal. Moulds, bushings, piercers, etc.
Forging: Heat slowly and uniformly to 1050°C. After forging cool slowly. Annealing: Heat uniformly to 630/650°C. Soak well and cool slowly in the furnace.
Hardening: Pre heat the 1.2767 tool slowly to 650/700°C and thoroughly soak. Continue heating to the final hardening temperature of 840/870°C and allow the component to be heated through. Quenching in oil or cool in air. Tempering: Heat the 1.2767 tool uniformly and thoroughly at the selected tempering temperatures and hold at heat for one hour per inch of total thickness.

Soft Annealing: Heat to 610-850°C, cool slowly in furnace. This will produce a maximum Brinell hardness of 262.
Stress Relieving: Stress relieving to remove machining stresses should be carried out by heating to 650°C, holding for one hour at heat, followed by air cooling. This operation is performed to reduce distortion during heat treatment.
