EN 10149-1 Specification for Hot-Rolled Flat Products
These standard specifies requirements for flat products made of weldable, hot rolled, high strength alloy quality and special steel for cold forming.
The steel specified in part 2 and 3 of this standard are applicable to hot rolled flat products in the range 1,5mm to 20mm for steel with ReH <= 460 N/mm2 and steel 1,5mm to 16mm for steel with minimum yield strength.
The standard does not apply to products for pressure vessels and products for which other European standards apply e.g. EN 10025, EN 10137, EN 10210
When purchasing steel in accordance with this standard the following information shall be provided
a) Details of the product form and quantity.
b) reference to the relevant standards.
c) Nominal dimensions and tolerances
d) The grade and delivery condition of the steel
e) The type of inspection document
The designation of a steel in accordance with this specification consists of the number of the standard followed by either the steel number ( or the symbol, the indication of the minimum specified yieldstrand (N/mm2 ),
The symbol for the delivery condition (M or N) .. M = Thermomechanically rolled , N = Normalised
The capital letter C indicating that the steel is suitable for cold forming
For example the designation of a thermomechanically rolled steel (M) for structural duties (S) with a minimum yield strength of 420 N/mm2 suitable for cold forming would be specified as
EN 10149-2 1,980 or EN 10149-2 S450MC
