EN 10088-3 Mechanical Properties of ferritic steel long product
EN 10088-3 gives the mechanical properties for stainless steel semi-finished products, bars, rods and sections for general purposes. This article covers ferritic stainless steel. The properties given are proof strength, tensile strength, elongation and hardness.
EN 10088-3 was originally published in 1995. The second, current version, EN 10088-3:2005, has superseded EN 10088-3:1995, which was withdrawn by BSi on 20th June 2005.
The tables shown here only have the 2005 tensile strength property ranges of the ferritic steel. Four new 'special' ferritic grades 1.4520, 1.4511, 1.4526 and 1.4509 have been added. The mechanical properties of all 1995 grades were unchanged.
This article does not include bright products. These were introduced in the 2005 edition.

- Note 2 deleted
- For rods, only the tensile strength values apply.
The ferritic steel are in the annealed condition. The annealing treatment may be omitted, if the conditions for hot working and subsequent cooling are such that the requirements for the mechanical properties of the product and the resistance to intergranular corrosion as defined in EN ISO 3651-2 are obtained.
